Comet: English for your everyday life
Comet opens the full Vocabulary feature set and Everyday Speaking, with 50 new words a day, word practice for up to 50 words a day, 10 Topic Words lists and 10 image scans or text inputs per month, each extracting up to 100 words, and up to 60 new Everyday Speaking scenarios a month. It includes the same free course samples, but does not unlock full terms, paid lesson speaking, Tutor reviews or final exams.
Luna includes everything in Comet plus every Grammar lesson in Basic, Intermediate and Advanced, every term, in any order. Grammar you finish counts in your Study Plan if you later move to Orbit or Nova.
Orbit includes everything in Luna plus the complete course with your Study Plan and one new term each month. Nova includes everything in Orbit with every lesson in every skill, level and term open in any order, an optional Study Plan with no monthly term limit, up to 35 new speaking lessons a month, and higher allowances, including word practice for up to 100 words a day and up to 200 words per image scan or text input. Upgrading does not reset used vocabulary, scans, evaluations, term starts or speaking lessons.
In Everyday Speaking and lesson scenarios you practise each scenario once, with up to three tries per line; the third try always moves you on.
Changing plans
Same-duration upgrades on Google Play charge the remaining-period price difference and keep the renewal date. Apple immediate upgrades charge a new billing period and refund unused old time, changing the renewal date. The store confirms the actual amount and date.
Downgrades and same-tier monthly/yearly changes take effect at renewal. For a tier upgrade and a different billing duration, change one at a time or use your store settings. Cancelling renewal keeps access until the paid period ends. Restore purchases using the Pendorai account you originally used.
Terms and term starts
Pendorai's course has three levels, Basic, Intermediate and Advanced, with five terms in each. A term is a set of lessons across grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, writing and speaking, followed by a final exam.
A term start is how Orbit opens a new term in your Study Plan: one each month of your subscription. A yearly plan works the same way, month by month. Unused term starts don't carry over to the next month. Nova has no monthly term limit.
The term you choose is your Study Plan: you study it until you finish it and its final exam, and only then choose your next term. Lessons you study outside the Study Plan never change your current term.
Coming back to a term you've already started, or renewing to finish it, never uses another term start.
Inside a term
- Your current term opens step by step through your Study Plan. Each step has a lesson in vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, writing and speaking.
- The lessons in a step open in that order, and the next step opens when every lesson in the step is complete, including its practice.
- Lessons you already finished outside the Study Plan, such as Grammar on Luna or Orbit or any lesson on Nova, count as done when your Study Plan reaches them.
- Your Study Plan always shows the term you're studying now.
- Terms you've finished (final exam taken) stay open for review while Orbit or Nova is active. Choose them in the Skills and Grammar tabs, at any level: every lesson in them is unlocked, and reviewing never uses a term start.
Choosing your starting term
- Take the Evaluation to find your level. It places you in a term, for example Basic, Term 3.
- Then you pick where to start: your placed term or any earlier term. On Orbit only the term you pick uses a term start, so the Evaluation itself never uses one.
- Once a term starts, you choose your next term after finishing it and its final exam, so pick the term you want to study now.
- Prefer not to take the Evaluation? Choose to start at Basic, Term 1 instead. You then study Basic, Term 1 to the end; an Evaluation taken later only sets which term you can choose after that.
- If you quit the Evaluation part-way, it still counts as one of your Evaluations and you start at Basic, Term 1. Choosing "Keep for later" pauses it so you can continue where you stopped.
- With Free access, Comet or Luna your course choice is saved. Choose Orbit or Nova to start a full term.
Moving to your next term
- Finish your term's lessons and take its final exam. There is one final exam attempt per term, and your next term opens for you to choose once it's done.
- Then choose the next term, or any earlier term to review or catch up on.
- Until you choose, your Study Plan stays on the term you just finished. Once you choose, it moves to the new term straight away, even while that term waits for your next term start.
- Advanced, Term 5 is the last term. After its final exam you can choose any term you haven't finished yet, for example the Basic terms if you were placed straight into Advanced. Once you've finished every term, there's nothing more to choose: the term you finished last stays your Study Plan.
- On Orbit, if you've already used this month's term start, your chosen term opens automatically when your next start arrives. On Nova it opens straight away.
- If you leave without choosing, Pendorai reminds you on the Home and Study Plan screens.
Re-checking your level
- Evaluations in total: Free 1, Comet 1, Luna 1, Orbit 3, Nova 5. Only one can be in progress at a time.
- A new Evaluation never changes the term you're studying. It sets which term you can choose after you finish your current term and its final exam.
- Placed higher? Once you finish your term, you can choose the new placement or any term before it, including terms you skipped.
- Placed lower? You can still continue to the term after the one you finished.
If your plan changes or ends
- If Orbit or Nova ends, or you move to Comet or Luna, paid course terms lock and your progress is saved. Return to Orbit or Nova to open them again.
- Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Upgrading from Orbit to Nova opens every lesson and a waiting term straight away.
- Moving from Nova to Orbit keeps your current term and every lesson you finished; other terms need Orbit's monthly term start.
- The Free plan keeps Term 1, Unit 1 of every skill at each level, one Evaluation, and 50 vocabulary words to learn and translate, with no time limit.
Examples
- You're placed in Basic, Term 3 and choose Basic, Term 2 to build confidence. On Orbit, Basic, Term 2 uses this month's start.
- On Orbit you finish a term early in the month. Your next term opens when your next monthly start arrives, or straight away if you upgrade to Nova.
- You're studying Basic, Term 3 and have finished Terms 1 and 2. Your Study Plan shows Basic, Term 3. To review Basic, Term 1, choose it in the Skills or Grammar tab, where all its lessons are open.
- Halfway through Basic, Term 3 you re-check your level and are placed in Intermediate, Term 1. You finish Basic, Term 3 and its final exam, then choose Intermediate, Term 1, or Basic, Term 4 or 5 if you prefer.
